Bundesliga roundup: Bayern end Borussia Dortmund’s winning run; Gladbach’s slide continues

Bayern Munich maintained their lead at the top of the standings with a come from behind win over Borussia Dortmund, while Borussia Mönchengladbach fell to yet another defeat on Matchday 24 in the Bundesliga.
In what was the weekend’s biggest match-up, Bayern Munich came from two goals down to defeat Borussia Dortmund 4-2. Erling Haaland gave the Black and Yellows a shock two goal lead early on, but Robert Lewandowski pulled Bayern back level with a brace. Leon Goretzka then gave Bayern the lead with a controversial goal in the 88th minute, before Lewandowski completed his hat-trick moments later.
The defeat saw Borussia Dortmund drop to sixth place, while Bayern maintained their two point lead at the top of the table.
RB Leipzig kept the pressure on Bayern with an impressive 3-0 win away to SC Freiburg. Goals from Christopher Nkunku, Alexander Sørloth and Emil Forsberg gave the title hopefuls a vital victory.
Bundesliga Roundup: Big win for Bayer Leverkusen in the top four race
Bayer Leverkusen ended their poor run of form by earning a 1-0 win over top four rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach. Patrik Schick’s 76th minute strike was enough to give Peter Bosz’ side the victory. Gladbach have now lost six of their last seven games, and the Marco Rose era looks to be coming to an ugly end before his summer move to Borussia Dortmund.
Eintracht Frankfurt came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at home to Stuttgart. Saša Kalajdžic continued his fine run of form to give the away side the lead in the second half, but the Eagles bounced back quickly and responded through Filip Kostic just one minute later. Wolfsburg suffered a blow in their hopes of finishing in the top four, as they were beaten by Hoffenheim. Goals from Christoph Baumgartner and Andrej Kramaric gave Hoffenheim a much-needed 2-1 win.
Relegation contenders Schalke 04 and Mainz 05 played out a goalless draw on Friday evening. The result means that Schalke remain nine points adrift of 16th placed Arminia Bielefeld, who held Union Berlin to a 0-0 draw on Sunday.
Hertha Berlin ended their run of nine games without a win as they came from behind to defeat Augsburg 2-1. Augsburg took an early lead through László Bénes, but second half goals from Krzysztof Piatek and Dodi Lukébakio helped the Berliners turn things around. FC Köln and Werder Bremen played out a 1-1 draw, with Jonas Hector equalising late on after Joshua Sargent’s 66th minute opener.
