It was a matchday to remember in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Arminia Bielefeld, but not so much for Borussia Mönchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke 04.

Bayern Munich earned a straightforward 3-1 win away to Werder Bremen to extend their lead at the top of the table to four points. Leon Goretzka, Serge Gnabry and Robert Lewandowski all scored for the league leaders, before Niclas Füllkrug netted a consolation goal for Bremen late on.

Second placed RB Leipzig could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to Eintracht Frankfurt. Julian Nagelsmann’s side took the lead through Emil Forsberg early in the second half. But Daichi Kamada equalised at the hour mark to ensure a share of the spoils.

The result means that the Eagles now only have a two point lead over Borussia Dortmund, who earned a 2-0 win at home to Hertha Berlin. Julian Brandt and Youssoufa Moukoko were the two goalscorers for the Black and Yellows, as they moved up to fifth place in the table.

Arminia Bielefeld delivered the biggest upset of the matchday, earning a 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen. Ritsu Doan and Masaya Okugawa scored to give last season’s 2. Bundesliga champions a priceless win. Peter Bosz is now a man under pressure, with Leverkusen down to sixth place.

Another head coach under immense pressure is Marco Rose, who watched his Borussia Mönchengladbach side suffer a 3-1 defeat to Augsburg on Friday. Goals from Ruben Vargas, Marco Richter and André Hahn consigned the Foals to their sixth straight defeat in all competitions.

Wolfsburg returned to winning ways, as they earned a dominant 5-0 win over Schalke 04. Wout Weghorst, Ridle Baku, Josip Brekalo and Maximilian Philipp were all on target for the Wolves, while Shkodran Mustafi scored an own goal. Mainz compounded on Schalke’s misery by earning a 1-0 win at home to SC Freiburg. Robin Quaison’s late goal helped the 05ers move level on points with 16th placed Hertha Berlin.
