After two days off, the Borussia Dortmund players returned to training on Tuesday morning to begin preparations for this weekend’s Bundesliga clash against FC Köln. According to Ruhr Nachrichten, Manuel Akanji took part in team training and will probably make his return to the squad this weekend. The Swiss centre-back has missed the last six games with a torn muscle fibre.

Marco Reus, who had to be subbed off after a nasty challenge on him from Vladimir Darida last weekend, did not train on Tuesday. But it is more a case of Borussia Dortmund not wanting to take any risks with his fitness, and he should be available for the game against FC Köln. A decision on when Reus can return to training will be made on a day by day basis.

Mats Hummels also had to be subbed off against Hertha due to a knee injury. He trained individually on Tuesday, but should be ready to play in time for Saturday’s clash.

Raphael Guerreiro is not yet back in training, but Kicker report that there is still some hope of him being available for the game against FC Köln. Mateu Morey and Jadon Sancho are both set to miss this weekend’s game with muscle injuries, and will only be back after the international break.
