UEFA Champions League draw: The teams Borussia Dortmund can face in the quarterfinals

Borussia Dortmund will find out their next UEFA Champions League opponents when the draw for the quarterfinals and semi-finals takes place on Friday.

Borussia Dortmund progressed to the Champions League quarterfinals for the first time since the 2016/17 season after defeating Spanish side Sevilla in the round of 16 (5-4 on aggregate). Erling Haaland scored four of the five goals in the tie, taking his UCL tally for the season to ten goals.

The Black and Yellows will now discover their next Champions League opponents when the draw for the quarterfinals takes place on Friday. With no seedings or country restrictions in place for this stage of the tournament, Edin Terzic’s side can be drawn against any of the other seven teams who have qualified for the quarterfinals.

  • FC Porto (Portugal)
  • Liverpool (England)
  • Manchester City (England)
  • Paris St. Germain (England)
  • Real Madrid (Spain)

The Champions League round of 16 did not deliver too many surprises, with seven of the eight group winners progressing to the quarter-finals. The only major surprise of the round saw FC Porto dump Italian giants Juventus out of the competition in extra-time.

The Champions League quarter-finals will begin after this month’s international break, with the first legs set to take place on April 06/07, 2021. The second legs of the ties will be played a week later on April 13/14, 2021. The draw for the semi-finals will also be made this Friday. The Champions League final will be held at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul on May 29, 2021.
