The Billy Goats took the early lead through Ellyes Skhiri after a well-worked corner. The same corner routine proved to be just as effective at the hour mark, when Skhiri made it 2-0. Thorgan Hazard then pulled a goal back for Dortmund with 15 minutes to go.
But Borussia Dortmund weren’t able to find an equaliser, with Erling Haaland missing a big chance to make it 2-2 with the final kick of the game.

Borussia Dortmund are in much better form going into this weekend’s clash. But they simply cannot underestimate Köln, who are fighting for their place in the Bundesliga. Defeat for either side would represent a big blow to their ambitions for the season.
