By Tushar Bahl
Erling Haaland helped Borussia Dortmund rescue a point on Saturday by scoring a brace against FC Köln. The goals helped him take his tally for the season to 33 goals. And he is now just one goal away from reaching the 50-goal mark for the Black and Yellows. The brace saw the striker break and equal more goalscoring records in the Bundesliga.
Here are some facts and numbers from Borussia Dortmund’s 2-2 draw against FC Köln.
- Youngest player to reach 33 and 34 goals: Erling Haaland became the youngest player to score 33 and 34 goals in the Bundesliga, beating the record previously set by Borussia Dortmund teammate Jadon Sancho for the former and Klaus Fischer for the latter. The Norwegian international now has 34 goals and eight assists in just 36 Bundesliga appearances.
- Most braces in a season: Haaland has now scored eight braces in the Bundesliga this season, the joint-most by a Borussia Dortmund player. He has equalled the club record set by legendary forward Lothar Emmerich in the 1965/66 and 1966/67 seasons.
- Three away braces in a row: Haaland has now scored twice in each of his last three away games in the Bundesliga. He equalled the record set by Robert Lewandowski (2016/17), Gerd Müller (1971/72) and Rainer Schönwälder (1963/64).
- Denied by the woodwork: Haaland also hit the post with an excellent glancing header during the 2-2 draw. It was the 16th time Borussia Dortmund have hit the woodwork in the Bundesliga this season, more than any other club in the league.
Borussia Dortmund also continued their tendency of scoring in the second half of games. 40 of the 54 goals the Black and Yellows have scored in the Bundesliga this season have come after the half-time interval.
