Erling Haaland relaxed about Borussia Dortmund future amid transfer rumours
Erling Haaland has commented on his future, amid rumours linking him with a move away from Borussia Dortmund. The 20 year old is said to be a transfer target for a number of big clubs in Europe, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, Manchester United and Juventus.
But despite there being a new rumour about his future almost every day, Haaland is not paying any attention to all the transfer talk. Speaking at a press conference while on international duty with Norway, Haaland said: “I still have three years left on my contract with Dortmund and I am not worried about the rumours.”
Haaland only joined Borussia Dortmund from RB Salzburg in January 2020, and his contract does not expire until the end of the 2023/24 season. His contract reportedly contains a release clause, but it does not become active until the end of the next season.
Haaland has 33 goals and eight assists to his name in 31 appearances for Borussia Dortmund this season. Two of those goals came during the Black and Yellows’ 2-2 draw against FC Köln on Saturday. The 20 year old was very angry after the game, and stormed down the tunnel after throwing his shirt at FC Köln defender Jorge Mere.
Haaland also addressed the incident at the press conference and apologised for reacting angrily. “I don’t know if you noticed when I left the field, but I was pretty angry. It was the wrong reaction to throw my shirt, I’m sorry for that. I wasn’t able to control myself, I was very angry.”
Haaland and Norway begin their FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign this week against Gibraltar and Turkey. They are also due to face Montenegro next week, before the striker can return to Dortmund for the business end of the season.
With key games coming up in both the Bundesliga and Champions League, Borussia Dortmund will be hoping that Haaland can continue his incredible goalscoring run in the coming weeks.
