Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Luca Unbehaun attracting interest from Union Berlin
Borussia Dortmund’s Luca Unbehaun is attracting interest from Union Berlin, with BILD claiming that the young goalkeeper is on their list of transfer targets. The tabloid adds that TSG Hoffenheim are also interested in signing the 20 year old, who has just over one year left on his contract with the Black and Yellows.
Unbehaun joined Borussia Dortmund in 2016 and won the U-17s Fritz Walter Bronze Medal, which is given to the best young footballers in Germany, in 2018. He signed his first professional contract just one year later.
The Germany youth international played for the Borussia Dortmund senior team during pre-season. But he is behind Marwin Hitz and Roman Bürki in the pecking order, and has yet to make his professional debut. He has been on the first-team bench ten times this season.
Unbehaun has been playing for the Borussia Dortmund U-23s in the Regionalliga West this season. He has made a total of 18 appearances for the U-23s so far, keeping seven clean sheets.
It remains to be seen what Borussia Dortmund’s future plans are with Unbehaun. BILD claim that the BVB bosses do not believe he is likely to become their first choice goalkeeper. And so a sale this summer could be possible.
Unbehaun told Ruhr Nachrichten last month that he is not planning to leave Borussia Dortmund in the upcoming summer transfer window. However, the prospect of playing in the Bundesliga may be an enticing one for the young goalkeeper. With his contract due to expire at the end of next season, the BVB bosses will likely want to make a decision on his future in the summer.
