Borussia Dortmund have no interest in signing Jerome Boateng despite transfer rumours
Borussia Dortmund have no interest in signing Jerome Boateng despite rumours linking the Bayern Munich defender with a move on a free transfer. This is being reported by WAZ, who add that the 32 year old does not fit the profile of players the Black and Yellows are looking to sign this summer.
Sportbuzzer had earlier claimed that Borussia Dortmund are considering making a move for Boateng, as they want to bring in new leaders to lead the club’s talented youngsters. Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with a move for the former Germany international in recent days.
WAZ add that while the BVB bosses are indeed looking to bring in new leaders, they feel that Boateng is a player who is already past his prime. And so they aren’t interested in signing him.
Boateng, who joined Bayern Munich in 2011, has made a total of 31 appearances this season. His contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and the Bavarians have confirmed that he will not be getting an extension.
While Borussia Dortmund will not be signing Jerome Boateng, they are reportedly keen on bringing in a new central defender this summer. Der BVB have been linked with moves for Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix and Augsburg’s Felix Uduokhai in recent weeks.
Borussia Dortmund have already completed the signing of one centre-back. Highly rated defender Soumaila Coulibaly will arrive on a free transfer from Paris St. Germain in the summer. Mats Hummels, Manuel Akanji and Dan-Axel Zagadou are the other centre-backs in the Borussia Dortmund ranks at the moment.
