Mateu Morey (5/10)

Morey failed to close down Borna Sosa in time to prevent him from putting in the cross for Stuttgart’s opener. He then cheaply gave the ball away to Stuttgart, which allowed them to counter attack and make it 2-2. The young Spaniard did assist Borussia Dortmund’s second goal, but it was Haaland’s dummy that allowed Reus to score.

Morey also won the ball back and began the move which led to Ansgar Knauff’s winner.

Manuel Akanji (6.5/10)

Sasa Kalajdzic was a handful for the Borussia Dortmund defenders, but Manuel Akanji did a fairly decent job of dealing with his threat in the end. He got better as the game went on and made some vital clearances and interceptions for his side.

Mats Hummels (5.5/10)

Hummels was the closest Borussia Dortmund centre-back to Kalajdzic before the first goal, and he probably should have done a better job of realising that the Stuttgart striker only had Raphael Guerreiro marking him for the aerial duel. He had to go off with stomach cramps at half time, with Emre Can replacing him.

Raphael Guerreiro (5/10)

Guerreiro looked too slow and lethargic in the first half. He was second best in most of his duels, and his decision making was off. He had no chance of winning the aerial duel against Kalajdzic before the first goal. He looked a lot better after the break and ended up leading the team with four key passes.
