Felix Passlack set to sign contract extension with Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund are on the verge of extending the contract of Felix Passlack. Speaking to Ruhr Nachrichten, Michael Zorc confirmed that talks with the full-back have reached the “home straight.”
Passlack’s current contract is due to expire at the end of the season, but he will now remain with the Black and Yellows beyond the summer. Ruhr Nachrichten do not mention what the length of his new contract will be.
The 22 year old, who has been at Borussia Dortmund since 2012, spent the last three seasons on loan at TSG Hoffenheim, Norwich City and Fortuna Sittard. But he made a good impression after returning to Dortmund last summer, and he is now being rewarded for his hard work with a new contract.
Passlack has made a total of 13 appearances for Borussia Dortmund this season, scoring one goal. He hasn’t played in the Bundesliga since November, but did come off the bench in both legs of the Champions League round of 16 tie against Sevilla. He played for the BVB U-23s at the weekend, and scored in the 4-1 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach II in the Regionalliga West.
Passlack has proven this season that he is a decent back-up option to have in the squad. He is versatile and can play both on the right and the left side. With Lukasz Piszczek and Marcel Schmelzer both set to leave Borussia Dortmund when their contracts expire in the summer, tying down Passlack means that the BVB bosses do not have to sign a new full-back.
