Previous Meeting: Manchester City 2-1 Borussia Dortmund

The two sides met in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal last week, and it was Manchester City who came out on top. The Premier League giants took the lead through Kevin de Bruyne in the 19th minute after a sloppy giveaway from Emre Can.

Borussia Dortmund were then controversially denied an equaliser, when Jude Bellingham was adjudged to have fouled Ederson. Replays confirmed that the England international had won the ball back fairly. But VAR could not intervene as the referee had already blown his whistle before Bellingham could tap the ball into the net.

The Black and Yellows finally did get their equaliser in the 84th minute, and it was Marco Reus who scored the crucial away goal after being played through by Erling Haaland.

But just when Dortmund thought they would be coming away from Manchester with a priceless draw, Phil Foden scored to give Pep Guardiola’s side a 2-1 win.
