Borussia Dortmund player ratings from defeat to Manchester City
By Tushar Bahl
Controversial refereeing and individual mistakes were at the fore once again, as Borussia Dortmund were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Manchester City.
Needing a win to overturn their first leg deficit and qualify for the semi-finals, Borussia Dortmund looked to be on course when Jude Bellingham’s maiden Champions League goal saw them go into the break with a 1-0 lead.
But Manchester City piled on the pressure in the second half, and took the lead after Emre Can headed the ball onto his own arm, resulting in a penalty. Riyad Mahrez equalised on the night from the spot, before Phil Foden sealed the win with a strike from the edge of the box.
Here are our player ratings for the Borussia Dortmund players from the game.
Marwin Hitz (5/10)
Hitz made a few decent saves over the first 75 minutes of the game. But he poorly misjudged Phil Foden’s shot which sealed the win for Manchester City.
