Controversial refereeing and individual mistakes were at the fore once again, as Borussia Dortmund were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Manchester City.

Needing a win to overturn their first leg deficit and qualify for the semi-finals, Borussia Dortmund looked to be on course when Jude Bellingham’s maiden Champions League goal saw them go into the break with a 1-0 lead.

But Manchester City piled on the pressure in the second half, and took the lead after Emre Can headed the ball onto his own arm, resulting in a penalty. Riyad Mahrez equalised on the night from the spot, before Phil Foden sealed the win with a strike from the edge of the box.

Here are our player ratings for the Borussia Dortmund players from the game.

Marwin Hitz (5/10)
