Mateu Morey (5.5/10)

Morey looked a bit shaky at times defensively and played Rashica onside for Werder Bremen’s opener. He then assisted Gio Reyna’s equaliser before being replaced by Lukasz Piszczek for the second half.

Manuel Akanji (6/10)

Akanji had things under control for the majority of the game. And he also helped initiate a number of promising attacks, including the one which led to the penalty. He did make one sloppy pass in the second half, which led to a chance for Eggestein. But Marwin Hitz was there to make the save on that occasion.

Mats Hummels (7/10)

Hummels did not have the best of starts, but he got better as the game went on. He did get beaten once by Josh Sargent, but also made his fair share of vital interceptions. He also won the majority of his duels and scored the fourth goal from a corner late on.

Raphael Guerreiro (5/10)

Like Morey, Guerreiro also struggled at times defensively and gave the ball away too cheaply on quite a few occasions. He often seemed to forget his defensive duties while trying to make an impact going forward.
