Players to Watch

Erling Haaland finally ended his goal drought on Sunday by netting a brace for Borussia Dortmund against Werder Bremen. His return to form comes at an important time for the Black and Yellows, who have key games in the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal coming up over the next few weeks.

Haaland has only faced Union Berlin once, and he scored a brace in that game. And he will be aiming to find the net again on Wednesday evening.

Thorgan Hazard showed glimpses of his quality during his 17 minute cameo on Sunday. It remains to be seen if that cameo will be enough to earn him a spot in the starting XI on Wednesday. But if he does start, expect him to put in a strong performance.

Max Kruse is Union Berlin’s leading goalscorer this season, with ten goals to his name in just 17 appearances. He will be a big threat to the Dortmund defence on Wednesday.

Another player to watch will be Union Berlin captain Christopher Trimmel. The veteran full-back got two assists in the win over Stuttgart at the weekend. And his set-pieces could cause Dortmund some serious problems, just like they did in the reverse fixture.
