Goalkeeper & Defence: Marwin Hitz, Lukasz Piszczek, Manuel Akanji, Mats Hummels, Raphael Guerreiro

In terms of their defensive setup, Borussia Dortmund will look to maintain what worked for them in their game against Werder Bremen and continue with a conventional back four.

Marwin Hitz keeps his place in goal, while Mats Hummels and Manuel Akanji will line up ahead of him in central defence. Akanji and Hummels both had a couple of hiccups in the game against Bremen that they will want to rectify against this Union Berlin side. Union Berlin are a big threat from set pieces, and they will likely look to exploit the same attacking avenues they did in the reverse fixture.

On the left and right flank, Edin Terzic has gone with Raphael Guerreiro and Lukasz Piszczek as the two full-backs. This is only Piszczek’s second league start of the season, as Mateu Morey is given a rest.
