Borussia Dortmund player ratings from hard fought win against Union Berlin
By Tushar Bahl
Lukasz Piszczek (6/10)
Piszczek made his return to the starting XI and looked solid for the majority of the game. He dealt with almost everything Union Berlin threw at him, and hardly put a foot wrong in defence.
Manuel Akanji (6.5/10)
Akanji put in a very confident performance in defence, making several vital recoveries for his side. He also won the majority of his duels and looked solid for the most part. He will now have a huge role to play on Saturday, with Mats Hummels suspended.
Mats Hummels (6/10)
Hummels did a solid job in defence, making sure that Union Berlin weren’t able to cause too many problems to Marwin Hitz’ goal. He made some vital interceptions and clearances, but also earned a yellow card for what was a very unnecessary tackle. He will now miss this weekend’s six-pointer against Wolfsburg after collecting his fifth booking of the season.
Raphael Guerreiro (7/10)
Guerreiro wasn’t able to get as involved in the attacking play as he would have liked, but he still had a few encouraging moments going forward. He set up a big chance for Gio Reyna in the second half, and then sealed the win by making it 2-0 on the counter attack late in the game.
