Lukasz Piszczek (7.5/10)

Is Lukasz Piszczek really 35? Based on his performance against Wolfsburg, it would be very easy to think otherwise. The veteran right-back rolled back the years and delivered a strong defensive performance. He was involved in a hard-fought battle against Paulo Otavio, but came out on top more often than not. He also made three vital interceptions and five clearances. Two straight starts for Piszczek, two clean sheets for Borussia Dortmund.

Manuel Akanji (7.5/10)

Akanji put in another impressive defensive display, as he dealt with the threat of the dangerous Wout Weghorst really well. The Swiss centre-back looked comfortable at all times, positioned himself really well and made several important recoveries for his side. He also came close to scoring in the second half, but his header was cleared off the line.

Emre Can (6/10)

Can did struggle at times and made some sloppy errors in the first half. But he got a lot better as the game went on and dealt with whatever the Wolfsburg forwards threw at him in the second half. He also made a vital block on a 2v1 situation just before Bellingham was sent off.

Raphael Guerreiro (6.5/10)

Guerreiro did a fairly decent job defensively against the dangerous Ridle Baku. He also had a few encouraging moments going forward, but gave the ball away cheaply on a few occasions. One of those giveaways came at the start of the second half, but luckily for Borussia Dortmund, Weghorst wasn’t able to capitalise.
