Erling Haaland missed Borussia Dortmund’s win over Holstein Kiel due to a muscle injury. Instead, he cheered for his teammates from the stands, as they qualified for the final of the DFB-Pokal. And Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc expects the striker to be available for next weekend’s crunch Bundesliga clash against RB Leipzig.

"Speaking to ARD, Zorc said: “Erling got a knock in the Wolfsburg game, then took a break at the beginning of the week and joined training, but then afterwards he couldn’t tolerate the strain. We expect that he will be available again next week.”"

Haaland has an excellent record against RB Leipzig, having scored four goals in just two games against Julian Nagelsmann’s side. So having him back for next weekend’s game will be a big boost to Borussia Dortmund’s hopes. The Black and Yellows are chasing a place in the top four, and currently find themselves four points behind fourth placed Eintracht Frankfurt with three games to go in the Bundesliga season.

Borussia Dortmund will then also face RB Leipzig in the DFB-Pokal final just five days after the two sides’ meeting in the Bundesliga. That game will be held at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

Zorc also confirmed after the Holstein Kiel game that while Borussia Dortmund had a gentleman’s agreement with Sancho last summer which would have allowed him to leave under certain conditions, no such agreement is in place with Haaland.

"“We already had a ‘gentlemen’s agreement’ with Jadon last year that he would be allowed to leave under certain conditions. He’s been with us for a few years. However, this agreement doesn’t exist with him (Haaland).”"

Haaland is being heavily linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund, with a number of big clubs interested in signing him this summer. But the BVB bosses have been adamant so far that the 20 year old will not be sold, regardless of whether the team qualifies for the Champions League or not.
