Erling Haaland looks set to miss Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga clash against RB Leipzig with a muscle injury. The striker hasn’t trained all week, and Sport1 report that he did not take part in Friday’s training session either.

Haaland also missed last weekend’s DFB-Pokal semi-final against Holstein Kiel. But Michael Zorc said after the game that he expected the 20 year old to be fit for the Leipzig clash. Borussia Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic also sounded optimistic about Haaland’s availability during Thursday’s pre-match press conference. But now it is highly unlikely that he will play on Saturday.

Erling Haaland’s probable absence is a big blow to Borussia Dortmund’s chances of defeating RB Leipzig. The Norwegian international has scored four goals in just two games against Julian Nagelsmann’s side. And with Youssoufa Moukoko also injured, the Black and Yellows will likely be forced to line up against Leipzig without a recognised striker. Thorgan Hazard is the likeliest candidate to replace Haaland in the BVB starting XI on Saturday.

While Borussia Dortmund are expected to be without Haaland, Gio Reyna should be available to play after recovering from his calf injury. The 18 year old had to be subbed off at half time against Holstein Kiel, but could start against RB Leipzig.

The Leipzig game is a massive one for Borussia Dortmund as they look to keep pace with their top four rivals. Edin Terzic’s side are a point behind fourth placed Eintracht Frankfurt, and two points behind third placed Wolfsburg with three games left in the season.
