Previous Meeting: Borussia Dortmund 1-1 Mainz 05

The previous meeting between these two storied Bundesliga clubs took place in January and ended with both sides taking a share of the spoils.

Goals from Thomas Meunier and Levin Öztunali weren’t enough to split the teams, but I expect there to be more goals on Sunday. Both sides have something to fight for, and it is in both of their best interests to get all three points this time around.

Marco Reus missed a penalty in the reverse fixture, but he will be determined to add to his impressive record against Mainz this weekend. He goes into the game in excellent form.

One thing is for certain: it is an exciting time to be a Borussia Dortmund supporter again. After all the uncertain and timid performances this season, we are finally seeing the team flourish and play to their capabilities as a side worthy of winning silverware and representing the Bundesliga in European competition.
