Lukasz Piszczek (7/10)

Lukasz Piszczek has given eleven years of heart and passion for Borussia Dortmund. And the game against Leverkusen was no different. The veteran right-back was strong at the back and went up the pitch quite often. He was made to work hard by Demarai Gray, but showed that he was up to the task.

The smile on his face was everything the fans would have wanted to see from him today. He was also given a guard of honour as he came off with 15 minutes to go. A special farewell for a true Borussia Dortmund legend.

Manuel Akanji (7/10)

This second half of the season has seen a major turnaround in performances from Manuel Akanji. And he showed his quality once again with another strong display in defence. He made a vital last ditch tackle in the first half to prevent a certain goal for Leverkusen. He did not give much away in terms of space, and was then handed a breather at the hour mark with Mats Hummels replacing him.

Emre Can (5.5/10)

Emre Can once again returned to the centre-back position, filling in for Mats Hummels as Edin Terzic decided to rotate the squad for this game. He was solid alongside Manuel Akanji for the most part. However, he was responsible for conceding a penalty towards the end of the game. A somewhat inconsistent end to an inconsistent season for the German international.

Nico Schulz (5.5/10)

One of the beneficiaries of Edin Terzic’s rotation for the game was Nico Schulz. The Berliner has had little to no playing time this season, as he has struggled with injuries and competition from the outstanding Raphael Guerreiro. Today’s game was a representation of Schulz’s season: quiet, inconsistent and lacking that final pass.
