VfB Stuttgart goalkeeper Gregor Kobel has confirmed that Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing him this summer. The 23 year old has been heavily linked with a move to Dortmund in recent weeks, with reports claiming that he is the club’s preferred goalkeeper candidate.

Speaking after VfB Stuttgart’s defeat to Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday, Kobel confirmed the Black and Yellows’ interest in his signature. He added that he will think about his future in the coming days.

"“Dortmund is definitely a topic,” Kobel said. “I will look into it in the next few days. I will listen to it. We will see.”"

Kobel has three years left on his current contract, and Stuttgart reportedly want a fee of around 16-18 million euros to part ways with him. At the moment, it remains to be seen if the BVB bosses would be willing to pay that fee.

Borussia Dortmund would also have to sell Roman Bürki before they can sign a new goalkeeper. The 30 year old has two years left on his current contract, and reports claimed last month that he is free to leave for a cut-price fee of five million euros.

Bürki is currently the second choice goalkeeper at Borussia Dortmund after losing his spot to compatriot Marwin Hitz in late January. Although he did start the last three games of the season after Hitz suffered a knee injury.

Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislintat was also asked about Kobel’s future on Saturday, and said that the chances of him staying are “50-50”.
