Borussia Dortmund 3-1 Bayer Leverkusen: Key talking points
Final Thoughts
With this season now a closed chapter in Dortmund’s history, I can’t help but look at what a wild ride it has been. From club’s sacking of Lucien Favre and the squads subsequent dip in form, to the impressive run in the Champions League, to the emergence of Edin Terzic as a very successful interim head coach and the impact he has, and last but not least the teams re-discovered and invigorating form at the end of the season, I think we can safely say that despite the stress and anxiety of the situation, it has been a successful run.
It is always a special season when this club can lift silverware, the only thing we would have all wished for would have been for the fans to be there along for the ride. With current pandemic circumstances not allowing this, I’m sure that fans will be able to celebrate the success of this season in the not so distant future. A proper farewell for Lukasz Piszczek should also be on the cards once the yellow wall is back in full force.
Borussia Dortmund’s performances in the last couple months have been so good that it is a shame that we have have to watch this season end, because I for one could watch them all day in this form. But if they can retain the lessons this season should have taught them, a solid transfer window and intensive preseason should have us excited for what’s to come in the not so distant future. Until then, we can all certainly celebrate what has been an exhilarating conclusion to the 2020/21 season.
