Borussia Dortmund to face competition from Tottenham Hotspur for Gregor Kobel signature

Borussia Dortmund could face competition from Tottenham Hotspur in their bid to sign Stuttgart goalkeeper Gregor Kobel this summer.
Borussia Dortmund are in the market for a new goalkeeper, and Gregor Kobel is their preferred candidate. The Stuttgart goalkeeper confirmed Dortmund’s interest on Saturday, and said that he will think about his future in the coming days.
Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislintat has confirmed that in addition to Borussia Dortmund, a top English team is also interested in signing Kobel. And Kicker believe that Tottenham Hotspur is the team he is referring to. The Premier League side are reportedly looking to sign a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris this summer.
Stuttgart reportedly want a transfer fee in the region of 16-18 million euros for Kobel, who has three years left on his contract. Mislintat is already working on finding a replacement, with Kicker mentioning Florian Müller as the main candidate.
For Borussia Dortmund to be able to sign Kobel, they must first sell Roman Bürki (contract until 2023). The 30 year old was replaced by Marwin Hitz as Borussia Dortmund’s first choice goalkeeper earlier this season, and he is reportedly free to leave this summer for a fee of just five million euros. But if no buyers can be found for Bürki, it is highly unlikely that a new goalkeeper will arrive this summer.
Borussia Dortmund have been linked with a number of goalkeepers in recent months, but Kobel appears to be their first-choice option. However, it still remains to be seen whether they will actually be able to make a move for him this summer.
