Borussia Dortmund linked with move for Mainz defender Jeremiah St. Juste
Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in signing defender Jeremiah St. Juste, who wants to leave Mainz 05 this summer. This is being reported by Sport1, who add that Mainz want a transfer fee in the region of 15-20 million euros for the 24 year old.
The report adds that there have already been initial talks between Borussia Dortmund and Jeremiah St. Juste’s advisors. But everything is still in the early stages. Bayer Leverkusen, Spartak Moscow and clubs in the English Premier League are also said to be interested in signing the defender.
St. Juste, who joined Mainz from Feyenoord for a fee of around eight million euros in 2019, has two years left on his current contract. He is primarily a centre-back, but can also play on the right.
Borussia Dortmund would like to bolster their defence this summer, and have been linked with a number of centre-backs in recent months, including Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix and Augsburg’s Felix Uduokhai. The Black and Yellows have already signed one defender, with the highly-rated Soumaila Coulibaly joining on a free transfer from Paris St. Germain in the summer.
Jeremiah St. Juste is coming off an impressive season with Mainz. He played a vital role in the 05ers’ stunning turnaround in the second half of the season and helped them stave off relegation. He was also the fastest player in the Bundesliga this season, with a top speed of 36.10 km/h.
As a result of his strong performances for Mainz, St. Juste has also been named in the Netherlands’ provisional 36-man squad for the Euros.
