Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich will contest the 2021 DFL-Supercup on August 17, with the Signal Iduna Park set to host the mouth-watering clash.

The date has been announced for the 2021 DFL-Supercup final which will see DFB-Pokal winners Borussia Dortmund and Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich lock horns. The game will take place on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 in Dortmund, with kick-off scheduled for 20:30 CEST.

The DFL-Supercup is traditionally the curtain-raising fixture for the new season. But this time, it will take place after matchday one of the Bundesliga season. This is being done so that the players can get enough time to recover after this summer’s European Championship.

As always, the first round of the DFB-Pokal will kick-start the new season on August 6-9. While the Bundesliga season is scheduled to get underway on Friday, August 13.

Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich faced each other in the DFL-Supercup this season as well. It was the Bavarians who came out on top, earning a 3-2 win at the end of a topsy-turvy clash. The Black and Yellows won the 2019 DFL-Supercup, beating Bayern 2-0 in the final.

Next season’s DFL-Supercup between the two teams will no doubt be another thrilling match-up between the two rivals, as it will likely see Marco Rose and Julian Nagelsmann face off for the first time since taking over at their new clubs.
