Borussia Dortmund not interested in signing Jonathan Ikoné despite rumours

Borussia Dortmund have been linked with a move for Jonathan Ikoné in recent weeks, but there isn’t much truth to the rumours. This is being reported by the very reliable Ruhr Nachrichten, who claim that the LOSC Lille winger is not on Dortmund’s list of potential transfer targets for this summer.
France Football magazine reported last week that incoming Borussia Dortmund head coach Marco Rose is a big fan of Jonathan Ikoné. They even claimed that the Black and Yellows are willing to spend 25 million euros to sign the 23 year old this summer.
Ruhr Nachrichten now report that while Borussia Dortmund have scouted Ikoné extensively, they are currently not looking to sign him. The newspaper adds that some teams in the Bundesliga are interested in signing the French international, but BVB aren’t one of them.
Ruhr Nachrichten believe that Borussia Dortmund already have players with the same skills and characteristics as Ikoné in their squad, in Gio Reyna and Julian Brandt. And so the chances of him making the switch to the Westfalenstadion this summer are extremely unlikely.
Ikoné, who has two years left on his contract, scored seven goals and provided seven assists in 48 appearances across all competitions this season. He helped LOSC Lille win the Ligue 1 title ahead of Paris St. Germain.
Borussia Dortmund have been linked with a number of wingers in recent weeks, as they look for a potential replacement to Jadon Sancho. The names that have been mentioned include PSV Eindhoven duo Noni Madueke and Donyell Malen.
