Marius Wolf could have a role to play at Borussia Dortmund next season, with the versatile wide player reportedly in line for a possible chance at right-back.

With Lukasz Piszczek now retired and Mateu Morey sidelined after suffering a long-term injury, Borussia Dortmund could well find themselves short of options at right-back going into the new season. Thomas Meunier and Felix Passlack are the two available options in the position. But they haven’t been consistent enough.

This could lead to a potential opportunity for Marius Wolf, who has spent the last two seasons on loan (at Hertha Berlin and FC Köln). According to BILD, incoming Borussia Dortmund head coach Marco Rose will take a close look at Wolf during pre-season and then decide on whether the 26 year old should be given a chance in the squad next season.

Wolf spent the recently concluded season on loan with FC Köln, where he was a regular starter. He made a total of 35 appearances for the Billy Goats, and helped them stave off relegation.

While Wolf is more of a winger, he has a fair bit of experience of playing at right-back. He was used in that role on a few occasions by Lucien Favre during the 2018/19 season. And he also made a number of appearances at right-back for Köln this season.
