Borussia Dortmund relaxed about Mahmoud Dahoud’s contract situation despite interest from other clubs

Mahmoud Dahoud’s Borussia Dortmund contract is set to expire at the end of next season. But both parties remain relaxed about the situation.
Dahoud’s impressive performances in the second half of the season have prompted other clubs to show an interest in signing him. According to Kicker, interested clubs from England, Spain and Italy have already made inquiries for the German international. But despite that, both Borussia Dortmund and Dahoud can imagine a timely extension to the midfielder’s contract.
The magazine adds that contract talks are still pending and Dahoud’s future will also depend on how he fits into new head coach Marco Rose’s plans for next season.
Ruhr Nachrichten had reported last month that Dahoud wants to extend his contract with Borussia Dortmund, and his representatives have put all enquiries from other clubs aside for the time being.
Mahmoud Dahoud is coming off his best ever season for Borussia Dortmund. After being limited to a bit part role in the first half of the season, the 25 year old broke into the starting XI in February. He became one of the first names on the team-sheet under Edin Terzic, and played a vital role in BVB’s late season resurgence.
Dahoud made a total of 31 appearances for the Black and Yellows this season. He scored two goals, including a vital equaliser in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 clash against Sevilla.
With only 13 months left on Dahoud’s contract, the BVB bosses will want to make a decision on his long-term future this summer. But at the moment, the likelihood is that he will stay on at the club.
