Manchester United have reportedly begun negotiations with Borussia Dortmund over a move for Jadon Sancho, and the Premier League side are encouraged that the transfer can be completed this summer.
This is being reported by the Athletic, who add that Manchester United would ideally like to wrap up the signing of Jadon Sancho before the Euros begin next week. The report also adds that while the two clubs are far apart on valuation at this stage, there appears to be a willingness to find a solution and complete the transfer this summer.
Borussia Dortmund reportedly want a fee in the region of 100 million euros to part ways with Jadon Sancho. Sporting director Michael Zorc made it clear last month that even though they have a gentleman’s agreement with the England international, he will only be sold if all of their conditions are met.
Manchester United wanted to sign Sancho last summer as well. It was heavily reported in England that the two clubs were in advanced talks. But the Premier League side never came close to meeting Borussia Dortmund’s transfer demands, and Sancho ended up staying in Germany. It will be interesting to see how the saga plays out this summer.
Sancho is coming off another impressive season with Borussia Dortmund that saw him score 16 goals and provide 20 assists in 38 appearances across all competitions. He still has two years left on his contract. So the Black and Yellows aren’t under any pressure to sell him this summer. The 21 year old said last month that he is very happy at BVB and loves the club.
