Real Sociedad are negotiating with Borussia Dortmund in a bid to remove the Black and Yellows’ buyback option for Alexander Isak, reports in Spain say.

Borussia Dortmund have a buyback clause for Alexander Isak, which would allow them to sign the highly rated striker for a fee of 30 million euros. While Dortmund haven’t shown any concrete interest in taking up that option just yet, Real Sociedad are looking to remove the clause. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish side are negotiating with the BVB bosses to find an economic agreement to remove the clause and obtain 100% rights to the striker.

The report claims that if Borussia Dortmund want a fee in the region of 3-4 million euros to remove the buyback clause, Real Sociedad would be willing to pay it. But a potential fee of 10 million euros would be too much for them.

Michael Zorc was asked about Isak in February and said that they are following the progress he is making at Real Sociedad.

Alexander Isak joined Borussia Dortmund in 2017, but found it hard to break into the starting XI. The Sweden international was limited to just 12 appearances and scored one goal, before making the switch to Spain in 2019.

Isak has impressed since joining Real Sociedad from Borussia Dortmund. The 21 year old has scored 33 goals in 89 appearances across all competitions for La Real. His performances have attracted the interest of a number of clubs, including FC Barcelona. Isak still has three years left on his contract, but Real Sociedad would like to offer him an extension.
