Borussia Dortmund announce schedule for pre-season friendlies

Borussia Dortmund have announced their pre-season schedule, including the dates for five friendly matches that will take place next month.
The Borussia Dortmund players who are not taking part in the European Championships are due to return to training at the start of next month. And they will play their first pre-season friendly against Regionalliga side FC Gießen on July 13.
The Black and Yellows will then take on MSV Duisburg and newly promoted side VfL Bochum for the “Cup der Traditionen”, just like they did last summer. Both games will be played on July 17.
Borussia Dortmund will then head to Bad Ragaz, Switzerland for their pre-season training camp on July 23. And Marco Rose’s side will play two friendlies during the training camp. BVB will go up against Spanish side Athletic Bilbao on July 24 (in St. Gallen, Switzerland), and Italian side FC Bologna on July 30 (in Altach, Austria).
It is possible that more pre-season friendlies could be added to the already scheduled five games. BVB managing director Carsten Cramer said earlier this month that they are in talks with Jakub Błaszczykowski’s club Wisła Kraków to play a pre-season friendly against them in Poland.
As always, the new season will kick-off with the first round of the DFB-Pokal. Borussia Dortmund will begin their defence of the DFB-Pokal in the first week of August. Matchday one of the 2021/22 season Bundesliga season will take place on the following weekend. The fixture list for the new Bundesliga season will be released on June 25. BVB will then host Bayern Munich for the DFL-Supercup on August 17.
