Germany will be aiming to open their Euro 2020 account on Saturday as they go up against defending champions Portugal at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

The two teams made contrasting starts to their Euro 2020 campaigns earlier this week. Cristiano Ronaldo’s brace helped Portugal begin their trophy defence with a 3-0 win over Hungary. While Germany suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat against France, courtesy of a Mats Hummels own goal.

Germany will still fancy their chances of making it through to the round of 16. But they are certainly the team under pressure heading into the game. Failure to get a result against Portugal would no doubt be a big blow to their hopes of qualifying for the knockout phase of the Euros.

Three Borussia Dortmund players could be involved in Germany’s crunch clash against Portugal on Saturday. Mats Hummels and Emre Can will both be in the Germany squad, while Raphael Guerreiro will play at left-back for Portugal.
