Mats Hummels, Thomas Müller and Ilkay Gündogan were all absent from training on Monday as Germany began their preparations for their Euro 2020 group stage clash against Hungary.

Thomas Müller is sidelined with a knee injury and multiple reports claim that he will miss Germany’s game against Hungary on Wednesday. The Bayern Munich forward’s injury could also potentially force him to miss the round of 16, if Joachim Löw’s side manage to qualify for the knockout phase of the Euros.

Mats Hummels also has a knee injury and had to be subbed off against Portugal, with Emre Can coming on to replace him. The Borussia Dortmund defender has been dealing with a patellar tendon issue for a while now. But according to Sport1, he will return to training tomorrow and should be available for the game against Hungary.

Ilkay Gündogan also missed training on Monday, but Kicker report that he should be fit again soon. Lukas Klostermann remains out with a muscle injury, and will definitely miss Wednesday’s game.

Leon Goretzka could be in with a chance of making his return to the Germany starting XI in Müller’s absence. The Bayern Munich midfielder is fully fit again, and came off the bench against Portugal.

Germany are currently second in Group F and will qualify for the Euro 2020 round of 16 if they match Portugal’s result against France on Wednesday. Even a draw against Hungary in their final group stage game will more than likely be enough for Germany to secure their place in the next round.
