Borussia Dortmund: Michael Zorc comments on Roman Bürki’s future

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has said that there is nothing to report on Roman Bürki’s future at the moment, and the former first-choice goalkeeper is expected to return to training next week.
Following the arrival of Gregor Kobel from VfB Stuttgart, Roman Bürki finds himself as the third-choice goalkeeper at Borussia Dortmund. The 30 year old is free to leave this summer for a cut-price fee in the region of 3-5 million euros. But a buyer has not yet been found.
AS Monaco have been linked with a move for Bürki in recent weeks. But it does not look like the Ligue 1 side will be signing him this summer. Now Michael Zorc has commented on the goalkeeper’s future.
"“There is nothing to report,” Zorc told Ruhr Nachrichten. “Roman has a valid contract so we expect him to be in Dortmund for the start of training.”"
The Borussia Dortmund players who are not involved in the European Championships are due to return to training for their first COVID-19 and medical tests on July 01. And unless Bürki can find a new club before then, he will begin pre-season training with the Black and Yellows.
Bürki still has two years left on his contract, having only signed an extension last year. However, he has no future at the club and the BVB bosses will want to shed his salary from the wage bill this summer.
Zorc also spoke about the need to be patient in the transfer market this summer due to the impact COVID-19 has had on the finances of football clubs across the world. In addition to Bürki, Borussia Dortmund will also be looking to find buyers for Marius Wolf, Sergio Gomez and Immanuel Pherai this summer.
