Thomas Delaney was the star of the show as Denmark beat the Czech Republic 2-1 to reach their first Euro semi-final in 29 years.

Looking to continue their incredible Euro 2020 run, Denmark got off to the perfect start and took the lead in the fifth minute. Borussia Dortmund midfielder Thomas Delaney evaded his marker before heading home from a corner to make it 1-0 in Baku.

Denmark continued to threaten every time they ventured forward in the first half, and Delaney came close to doubling his tally. Mikkel Damsgaard and Martin Braithwaite also missed decent opportunities to score. But the Danes finally got their second goal in the 42nd minute, when Joakim Maehle’s stunning outside of the boot cross was volleyed into the back of the net by Kasper Dolberg.

The Czech Republic came back from the break looking like a completely different team. They started the second half with great intensity and halved the deficit through Patrik Schick in the 49th minute. The Bayer Leverkusen marksman bagged his fifth goal of Euro 2020 to give the Czechs a route back into the game.
