Julian Brandt now looks set to stay at Borussia Dortmund, with Michael Zorc confirming that he will be given a chance to prove himself under new head coach Marco Rose.

Julian Brandt has been linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund in recent weeks, with both Arsenal and Lazio said to be interested in signing him. It was thought that the Black and Yellows could consider selling him for the right offer. But now it looks like he will stay in Dortmund for at least another season.

Michael Zorc told BILD that Brandt will be given the chance to show his quality under Marco Rose. But the Borussia Dortmund sporting director added that he expects better performances from the German international.

"“It makes total sense that Julian has the chance to prove himself under the new coach,” Zorc said. “He’s a good guy, he has incredible potential. However, I expect him to improve his performances. And that he continuously delivers on his potential.”"

Brandt is coming off a difficult second season at Borussia Dortmund. The 25 year old could only manage four goals and two assists in 45 appearances across all competitions last season. He also failed to make Germany’s squad for the European Championships as a result. Brandt said on Sunday that he is keen to leave last season behind him.

According to BILD, Marco Rose wants Brandt to be an important part of the Borussia Dortmund squad for next season. The playmaker’s versatility will certainly help his cause, as Rose is known to be tactically flexible.
