Rumour: Bayer Leverkusen duo on Borussia Dortmund’s list of candidates to replace Jadon Sancho
Bayer Leverkusen duo Leon Bailey and Moussa Diaby are reportedly on Borussia Dortmund’s list of candidates to replace Jadon Sancho.
With Jadon Sancho set to join Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund are in the market for a replacement. PSV Eindhoven forward Donyell Malen is the Black and Yellows’ top transfer target, and remains the likeliest candidate to join. But according to WAZ, Leon Bailey and Moussa Diaby are also on Der BVB’s list of potential targets.
Diaby scored 10 goals and provided 15 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen last season. While Bailey found the net 15 times and registered 11 assists in 40 appearances. Both Diaby and Bailey starred in Leverkusen’s 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in January.
It remains to be seen just how much truth there is to the rumour. Moussa Diaby signed a long-term contract extension with Bayer Leverkusen in December. While Leon Bailey still has two years left on his current contract. So it is very unlikely that Bayer Leverkusen would be willing to part ways with their star players for cheap this summer.
Marco Rose said on Thursday that Borussia Dortmund are looking for a pacy winger who can take players on one-on-one to replace the outgoing Sancho.
In addition to Donyell Malen, Leon Bailey and Moussa Diaby, Borussia Dortmund have also been linked with Noni Madueke in recent months. The PSV Eindhoven winger’s father and agent visited BVB’s training ground last week. But the Dutch side will reportedly only sell him this summer if they receive a mega offer.
