Gio Reyna took part in his first training session under new Borussia Dortmund head coach Marco Rose on Saturday, while Erling Haaland is set to link up with his teammates on Monday.
Borussia Dortmund play their first pre-season friendly next week, as they go up against Regionalliga side FC Gießen on Tuesday. The Black and Yellows also have a double-header against MSV Duisburg and newly promoted side VfL Bochum scheduled for next weekend. Preparations for the new season continued on Saturday, as Marco Rose put his squad through their paces.
After completing his performance diagnostics tests on Friday, Gio Reyna was able to train with the ball on Saturday. Erling Haaland is also set to join the squad soon. Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc confirmed to Sport1 that the striker will be back in training on Monday.
"“Erling Haaland is currently keeping fit at home in Norway. He will be back with us in Dortmund for training on Monday,” Zorc said."
Haaland and Reyna were given a few extra days off by Marco Rose as a result of their national team commitments for Norway and the United States respectively. Haaland will not play in Tuesday’s game against FC Gießen, but could feature in one of the two games on Saturday.
Youssoufa Moukoko is also on the comeback trail. The 16 year old has been out since late March with a ligament injury. But he is now on the verge of making his return to team training.
Marco Rose only has nine senior outfield players available to him at the moment. So a number of players from the U-19s team will likely be in the Borussia Dortmund squad for Tuesday’s game against FC Gießen.
