Borussia Dortmund reveal shirt numbers for Gregor Kobel and Soumaila Coulibaly

New Borussia Dortmund signings Gregor Kobel and Soumaila Coulibaly have been given their shirt numbers ahead of the new season. While Roman Bürki and Marius Wolf have had their shirt numbers changed. 

Gregor Kobel will have the number 1 on the back of his Borussia Dortmund shirt next season after making the switch from VfB Stuttgart. The 23 year old will be BVB’s first-choice goalkeeper, and takes over the number 1 shirt from compatriot Roman Bürki.

Soumaila Coulibaly has been given the shirt number 4. The highly rated defender will follow in the footsteps of Christian Wörns and Neven Subotic, who also wore the number 4 shirt during their Borussia Dortmund careers. The 17 year old is currently sidelined with a torn cruciate ligament injury, and will be looking to make his BVB debut in the autumn.

With Kobel getting the number one shirt, Roman Bürki also has a new shirt number. The 30 year old takes over the number 38 shirt after losing his place as the first-choice goalkeeper. Bürki is free to leave Borussia Dortmund for a cut-price fee this summer, so it remains to be seen just how long he will be having his new shirt number for.

Another player with a number change is Marius Wolf, who will now wear the number 39 shirt. Wolf’s previous shirt number (27) was taken over by Steffen Tigges after he made the jump to the professional team in December. Like Bürki, Wolf is also free to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer.

Borussia Dortmund U-19s players Nnamdi Collins and Göktan Gürpüz will be wearing the number 41 and 42 shirts respectively.
