Erling Haaland has said that he is looking forward to working with Marco Rose at Borussia Dortmund this season.
Erling Haaland’s future has been the subject of a lot of speculation in recent months, with Chelsea reportedly interested in signing him this summer. But the BVB bosses remain adamant that he is not for sale. And the striker has dropped another big hint that he will stay with the Black and Yellows for the upcoming season.
In an interview with Stadium Astro, Erling Haaland said that he is looking forward to working with new Borussia Dortmund head coach Marco Rose once again.
"“I talked a little bit with him. I know him from before because I had six months with him in Salzburg. He’s a nice guy and I look forward to working with him.”"
Erling Haaland and Marco Rose spent six months together at RB Salzburg before the latter made the switch to Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2019. And Haaland is expecting Borussia Dortmund to “press a lot, run a lot and attack a lot” under the 44 year old.
"“The training is so hard here, so it’s exactly the same as it was in Salzburg, so it’s going to be hard training and there is going to be a lot of running. That’s what I expect the tactic to be to press a lot, to run a lot and to attack a lot.”"
Haaland also spoke about the exit of Jadon Sancho, who is set to complete a move to Manchester United in the coming days. The 20 year old said that the exit of Sancho is disappointing, but added that there are a lot of other good players in the Borussia Dortmund squad.
"“Me and Jadon understood each other very well and he’s a top player. So of course it’s sad that he goes but that’s how it is and that’s football. You never know what will happen. But I think that there’s a lot of other good players that I have a good tone with and it will become even better. We have to see who I match the best with.”"
Haaland did not want to get drawn into Borussia Dortmund’s goals for the upcoming season, but he spoke about how important May’s DFB-Pokal win was for both the club and the fans.
"“Now we have to have a good pre-season and have to get to know each other and we will see,” Haaland said. “We won the DFB Pokal last season which was very important for us as a club and the fans. That was important and we have to see.”"
The Norwegian international is back in training and could make his first appearance of the pre-season in the friendly against Spanish side Athletic Bilbao on July 24.
