Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of talented midfielder Abdoulaye Kamara from Paris St. Germain. The 16 year old has signed a long-term contract with the club.
Borussia Dortmund have added another highly rated youngster to their squad, with Abdoulaye Kamara joining on a free transfer from Paris St. Germain. The defensive midfielder has already passed his medical check and signed a long-term contract with the Black and Yellows.
According to Ruhr Nachrichten, a number of big clubs from across Europe were interested in signing Kamara. But he decided in favour of joining Borussia Dortmund.
"Borussia Dortmund head of players’ department Sebastian Kehl said: “Abdoulaye is a highly talented, and still very young, player who trained regularly with the pros in Paris. We hope that he will now develop accordingly with us in the senior ranks and take the next step.”"
Kamara becomes the third PSG youngster to join Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer in recent years, following in the footsteps of Dan-Axel Zagadou and Soumaila Coulibaly. Zagadou made the switch from Paris to Dortmund in 2017, and Coulibaly joined earlier this summer.
Abdoulaye Kamara is primarily a defensive midfielder, but can also play in defence. The plan is for him to initially play for the U-19 and U-23 teams. And depending on his progress, he will then get his opportunity in the first-team.
Kamara joins a Borussia Dortmund U-19s team that already features a number of talented young players. The likes of Dennis Lütke-Frie, Julian Rijkhoff, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Samuel Bamba and Bradley Fink are some of the many names in the U-19s squad who have the potential to make it to the first-team. And it will be very exciting to see how they all develop in the coming years.
