Borussia Dortmund will jet off to Switzerland for a week-long training camp on Friday. And a number of players from the U-19 and U-23 teams are set to be included in the squad.

Borussia Dortmund have a shortage of available players in central defence going into their training camp, with Mats Hummels and Manuel Akanji still on break following their involvement at Euro 2020 and Dan-Axel Zagadou and Soumaila Coulibaly both recovering from their injuries. Hummels is also dealing with a patellar tendon issue, while Nnamdi Collins suffered a knee injury during last weekend’s friendly against VfL Bochum.

According to Ruhr Nachrichten, head coach Marco Rose is expected to include BVB II defenders Antonios Papadopoulos, Lennard Maloney and Albin Thaqi in the training camp squad. This is to ensure that Borussia Dortmund have enough defenders for training and also for the two upcoming pre-season friendlies.

Ruhr Nachrichten add that three players from the U-19s team will also make the trip to Bad Ragaz. Defender Farouk Cisse, midfielder Göktan Gürpüz and winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens are all set to be included in the training camp squad.

Borussia Dortmund should also welcome back a number of players who took part in the European Championships during the Bad Ragaz training camp. Ruhr Nachrichten report that Raphael Guerreiro underwent his performance diagnostics tests this week and will return to training soon.
