Borussia Dortmund striker Steffen Tigges could be on his way to FC Köln, who are interested in signing him on a loan deal.
FC Köln are looking to sign a striker this summer and have enquired about Steffen Tigges. They are currently in negotiations with Borussia Dortmund over a loan move for the 22 year old. This is being reported both by Kicker and Ruhr Nachrichten.
Tigges has attracted the interest of a number of clubs from the second division this summer. But none of the offers were suitable enough for Borussia Dortmund or for the striker. Ruhr Nachrichten add that the situation has now changed, with Bundesliga club FC Köln interested in signing him.
Köln have two strikers in their ranks at the moment in Sebastian Andersson and Anthony Modeste. And they want to bolster their attack with the signing of Tigges.
Tigges is coming off an impressive season with Borussia Dortmund II. His performances for the U-23s led to him earning a call-up to the senior team in December. And he went on to make a total of eight first-team appearances last season. He also led the U-23s to the Regionalliga West title, scoring 22 goals and providing 15 assists in 35 appearances.
Tigges has played in both of Borussia Dortmund’s pre-season games under Marco Rose so far, and scored in the 2-0 win over FC Gießen. But it is unlikely that he will get too many chances ahead of Erling Haaland and Youssoufa Moukoko this season. And the potential arrival of Donyell Malen would push him further down the pecking order.
