Borussia Dortmund: Gio Reyna, Mahmoud Dahoud train individually; Jamie Bynoe-Gittens out for weeks
There is mixed news for Borussia Dortmund on the injury front. While Gio Reyna and Mahmoud Dahoud should return to training soon, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens has been ruled out for a few weeks.
Borussia Dortmund continued their pre-season preparations in Bad Ragaz on Monday. While the players who played 90 minutes against Athletic Bilbao last weekend were given a bit of a breather, the likes of Erling Haaland and Youssoufa Moukoko were put through their paces by head coach Marco Rose.
Four Borussia Dortmund players suffered injuries on Saturday, and two of them were able to train individually on Monday. Both Mahmoud Dahoud and Gio Reyna completed light running training. And Ruhr Nachrichten report that both players are expected to rejoin team training soon.
But there is bad news regarding the injury status of highly rated winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens. The 16 year old had to be subbed off just 19 minutes after coming on against Athletic Bilbao with an ankle injury. And he will now be sidelined for a few weeks. Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that he has suffered a torn ankle ligament injury.
Marius Wolf is also set to be out for a while. The versatile wide player suffered a partial tear of the lateral ligament in his ankle during Saturday’s game. It remains to be seen when he will be able to return.
Borussia Dortmund play their next pre-season friendly on Friday, as they go up against Italian side Bologna FC. They will then return to Dortmund to prepare for next weekend’s DFB-Pokal first round clash against SV Wehen Wiesbaden.
