Steffen Tigges expected to stay at Borussia Dortmund despite FC Köln interest
Steffen Tigges is expected to stay at Borussia Dortmund despite rumours linking him with a move to Bundesliga side FC Köln.
It was reported last week that FC Köln are interested in signing Steffen Tigges on a loan deal from Borussia Dortmund. Now Kicker report that despite interest from the Billy Goats, it is unlikely that the move will happen. And the striker is expected to stay in Dortmund this season.
Steffen Tigges has attracted the interest of a number of clubs from the 2. Bundesliga this summer. But Borussia Dortmund have yet to receive a suitable offer for him. It was thought that the situation might change when interest from FC Köln emerged last week. But now it appears that Tigges will be staying on with the Black and Yellows.
Tigges is coming off an impressive season with the Borussia Dortmund U-23s. He scored 22 goals and provided 15 assists in 35 appearances for BVB II last season, and led them to the Regionalliga West title. His performances saw him earn a promotion to the first-team last season. And he went on to make a total of six appearances in the Bundesliga. He was also handed a contract extension until 2024 earlier this year.
Kicker add that Tigges is expected to play a vital role in Borussia Dortmund II’s bid to stave off relegation from the 3. Liga this season. The 22 year old is currently preparing for the new season with the first-team, and has featured in each of the three pre-season games so far.
Borussia Dortmund II began their 3. Liga campaign last weekend with an impressive come from behind with over FSV Zwickau.
