Donyell Malen trained with his new Borussia Dortmund teammates for the first time on Tuesday morning, even though his transfer from PSV Eindhoven has not yet been made official.

Borussia Dortmund have announced that they have been given an official training permit from PSV Eindhoven, allowing Donyell Malen to train with his new teammates. The transfer has not yet been officially announced by the two clubs, with BVB revealing that there are still some details to be resolved between PSV and the player.

Borussia Dortmund and PSV Eindhoven reached an agreement over a transfer fee of 30 million euros for Malen last week. The 22 year old arrived at the Black and Yellows’ training camp in Bad Ragaz on Sunday and completed his medical check. It was thought that the transfer would be made official on Monday, but the announcement never arrived.

Now the reason has been revealed. It remains to be seen what details are holding up the official announcement of the transfer. But it should not be too long before Donyell Malen is officially a Borussia Dortmund player.

Donyell Malen was Borussia Dortmund’s top target to replace Jadon Sancho, who has joined Manchester United. The Netherlands international is primarily a striker, but can also play on the wing and as a secondary striker. So his versatility will give Marco Rose the flexibility to use a number of different tactical systems.
