Mahmoud Dahoud has signed a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund that will keep him at the club until 2023.

Mahmoud Dahoud’s contract with Borussia Dortmund was due to expire at the end of the upcoming season. But the two parties were in negotiations over an extension. Now an agreement has finally been reached and the midfielder will stay on with the Black and Yellows at least until the end of the 2022/23 season.

Mahmoud Dahoud’s new contract is a well deserved reward for his excellent performances over the last few months. The 25 year old was only used sporadically in the first half of last season. And for a long time it looked like his future would lie away from Borussia Dortmund.

But Dahoud enjoyed a stunning turnaround in the second half of last season. He forced his way into the team in February and established himself as a vital player for Edin Terzic’s side. His performances were crucial to Borussia Dortmund’s top four finish and DFB-Pokal win last season. And he will now be aiming to play a key role under new head coach Marco Rose in the upcoming campaign.

It was reported by WAZ earlier this month that Dahoud would be taking a pay cut to extend his contract with Borussia Dortmund despite interest from other clubs. This has now been confirmed by Ruhr Nachrichten.
